The Gallatin County Commission on July 1 approved several routine but substantive administrative finance actions and accepted the county treasurer’s April report.
Auditor Theron told the commission that under MCA 7-8-101 the county may sell property not necessary for county business to another political subdivision without bidding; the commission adopted resolution 2025-058 to sell a surplus 2008 Ford Wildland engine to Central Valley Fire District. No public comment was offered prior to the vote.
Justine Swanson, the county chief financial officer, presented two resolutions to establish funds: fund 7376 to track revenues and expenses for the Firelight Meadows Water and Sewer District (the district was created following a May 6 election), and fund 3626 to serve as the debt-service fund for Big Sky Fire Station No. 3. Commissioners approved both resolutions.
Treasurer Maureen Horton presented the April treasurer's report and provided an update on the Motor Vehicle Division. Horton said the office was "4 people short" in April but has since filled the positions and reopened the information window. Despite the staffing shortage, she reported the motor vehicle office processed more than 8,000 transactions in April.
All motions were seconded and carried by voice vote.
