City administration on July 15 told the Papillion City Council the city will process a fiscal‑year 2024–25 budget amendment and the FY2025–26 budget on a timetable that includes public hearings and final readings this late summer and early fall.
The administration said the first reading for the FY24‑25 budget amendment will be Aug. 5; that amendment’s public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19 and the final reading for Sept. 2. The FY25‑26 budget introduction is scheduled for Aug. 19, public hearing for Sept. 2 and final reading for Sept. 16. The mayor said a written mayor’s letter detailing the FY25‑26 budget will be published in August.
Administration staff told the council their current estimates indicate the property‑tax levy will remain below the threshold that would compel the city to attend a countywide joint public hearing scheduled for Sept. 18; if the levy remains below the threshold, the council’s Sept. 2 public hearing will be the city’s only public hearing on the FY25‑26 budget. Staff also reminded the council that the farmers market runs Wednesdays, 5–8 p.m., at City Hall through the end of the season.
Why it matters: The schedule sets public‑engagement dates for the city’s operating and capital budgets and informs residents of when hearings will be held.
