Barbecue Blues & Brews at Heart and Soul Park drew crowds for live rhythm-and-blues performances and food, an event the host called “a celebration of progress” for the city’s historic Northwest neighborhood. The festival, sponsored by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), took place across from the newly renovated Sunset Lounge and Styx Promenade and featured multiple bands, dancing and a barbecue competition whose winner was announced at the event. An on-camera speaker announced that the Styx Promenade on Seventh Street will have a grand opening on Aug. 1 and that organizers plan to start holding some concerts there in October. The program did not include permit details or budgets for the Promenade project. The festival included local vendors, live music and family activities; the City of West Palm Beach did not provide attendance estimates or financial figures during the segment.
