The Tompkins County Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend Samantha Allmendinger for an open county staff seat on an advisory board.
Veronica Pillar, chair of the committee, said the appointment is for a county staff seat with a term that expires Dec. 31, 2025, and that the committee hopes Allmendinger will apply to extend beyond that date. The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the county’s Board of County Personnel (BCP) and the full legislature for final approval.
A motion to approve the appointment was moved by Rachel Graham and seconded by Annie Korman. Committee members recorded their votes aloud during a roll call; the meeting transcript records a unanimous approval with votes of “yes” from John (last name not specified), Annie Korman, Nick Bennett, Carmen Arroyo, Shauna Black, Jennifer (last name not specified), Rob Brown, Rachel Graham and Chair Veronica Pillar.
No amendments to the appointment were proposed during the committee discussion. Committee members were offered access to Allmendinger’s application materials for review before the appointment recommendation was forwarded.
The committee took the vote as an internal recommendation; the appointment remains subject to administrative and legislative approvals listed by Pillar.
