Jenny Sedgwick, the new Whole Health commissioner for Tompkins County, introduced herself to the Community Services Board and described her background in state government and public health operations.
"I grew up locally...I worked on the Affordable Care Act implementation," Sedgwick said, describing earlier roles in a governor's office and at the New York City Department of Health where she worked on Medicaid policy, emergency preparedness and vaccine rollout for congregate settings. She told the board she had led vaccination efforts for OMH supportive housing, OPWDD group homes and other congregate sites in New York City.
Sedgwick said she has a special interest in mental health work and in coordinating services across systems, and she said she looked forward to partnering with the board and its subcommittees. The board asked no substantive questions after the introduction; members welcomed Sedgwick and moved on to subcommittee updates.
Ending: The board welcomed Sedgwick and will engage her office in ongoing subcommittee work and implementation of the county's local services plan.
