Saratoga County’s Law and Finance Committee approved several state grant awards on June 11, 2025, to expand mental health services and support for youth transitioning out of foster care.
The committee accepted a Personalized Recovery Oriented Services viability grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health totaling $49,335, with $23,791 to be added to the county budget to cover operational, workforce and program-specific costs related to recovery services. The committee also authorized pass-through agreements to Parsons Child and Family Center for $112,528 and to Behavioral Health Services North Inc. for $69,248 to support school-based mental-health satellite clinic enhancements and offset non‑reimbursable costs for school‑aged children.
In addition, the county accepted a John H. Chaffee Foster Care Program allocation of $25,905 from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to assist current and former foster youth with independent living, including stipends and partial salary support for caseworkers assigned to those youth. County staff indicated the budget will be amended to accept these funds and authorize related expenses.
Supervisor Lant moved the package of health and human services items and Supervisor Butler seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. The transcript does not include public comment on these awards or a detailed breakdown of how pass-through organizations will spend the funds beyond the general purposes stated in the agenda.
The actions will require the county to complete budget amendments and execute agreements with the named providers.
