Public Works Director Jamie Grandpre presented Resolution 2025‑62 on July 16, seeking council approval of a local‑agency betterment agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) for the 600 West/SR‑112 roadway improvement and permanent signal project. Grandpre said the city would provide $85,003.94 to UDOT to support the work; the amount is intended to cover Tooele City’s share of construction necessary to make the temporary signal permanent and to add turn lanes and other intersection improvements. He said projects on SR‑112 will include right‑turn and left‑turn lanes and that some improvements at the 600 West approach could include a median to control access to an expected convenience-store driveway. Grandpre said the agreement would allow the permanent signal project to go to bid later this fall or in early next year, and that city and private developer improvements are being coordinated so work can be done once rather than in separate phases. The council approved the betterment agreement by a 5–0 vote. Why it matters: the improvements are intended to address traffic operations and safety at a key intersection and to coordinate with private development on the 600 West leg. The funding commitment of $85,003.94 is a city contribution to a UDOT‑managed project; Grandpre said if actual project costs differ, UDOT will account for remaining funds or request additional payment per the agreement.
