The Riviera Beach City Council adopted a resolution setting the city’s maximum millage rate at 8.35 mills for the 2025‑26 fiscal year and scheduled the first public budget hearing for Sept. 3, 2025.
CFO Randy Sherman told council the 8.35‑mill figure is the same rate the city has used for the past three fiscal years. The city must file a maximum millage resolution with the county by the end of July; adoption of a maximum rate does not prevent council from lowering the millage during later budget hearings, Sherman said, but the rate cannot be increased above the adopted maximum.
Sherman also offered the council the option of holding a separate special meeting for the first public hearing; the council chose to place the hearing on the authority’s regular Sept. 3 meeting date. The clerk recorded a unanimous vote in favor of the resolution.
