The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Kaylee Malone as principal of Valley Ridge Elementary STEM Academy.

During open session, Trustee Miss Ankitab moved, "I move that the board approve Kaylee Malone as the new principal of Valley Ridge Elementary STEM Academy as recommended by administration." Doctor Sheila Taylor seconded the motion. The motion passed with a 6-0-1 vote (six yes, none opposed, one absent); the board welcomed staff and families from Valley Ridge to come forward for a recognition photo.

The appointment was considered as part of personnel items taken after the board’s closed session. Trustees noted the board had received personnel recommendations and supporting documentation in advance per the district’s meeting protocol. The board record shows the motion carried and administration will complete standard onboarding steps.

Separately, the board also granted the superintendent temporary authority to hire principals and other contractual personnel in salary schedules AP‑69 and above through the next regular meeting to allow hiring to continue over the summer; that motion passed 6–0.
