Commission committee to draft animal control director job description ahead of interviews

Hampshire County commissioners on July 15 agreed that a three‑member committee will draft or modify the county’s animal control director job description before interviews with applicants conclude.
President Englanger said he, Sheriff (unnamed) and Clerk Scribe would serve as the interview committee and review a comprehensive model job description the clerk circulated from another jurisdiction. The commission directed the subcommittee to meet within about a week and present a proposed job description to the full commission for consideration.
“We also had sent you a copy of something from Georgia. It was a pretty comprehensive document, and I just wanted to get that on your radar,” Clerk Scribe told commissioners. The commission noted application review and interviewing deadlines: applications are due at the end of the week and interviews are scheduled; the committee will try to meet early next week and circulate suggested changes by email first.
Commissioner Brill said he trusted the judgment of the subcommittee and had no further comment. Commissioners emphasized they will return any recommended draft to the full board for final approval before hiring decisions are made.
