Two residents used public participation to urge the council to support preservation and promotion of the railroad roundhouse and historic locomotive on city property.
An unnamed resident apologized for prior remarks and asked for a "do over," asking councilmembers to consider the long‑term stewardship of Locomotive 4420. He said the locomotive “has been here for over a hundred years” and argued the city’s role is custodial: “We’re more custodians than owners.” He asked the council to consider how current decisions will affect the locomotive’s condition a century hence.
Cindy Crawford, another resident, described attending a recent railroad presentation at the roundhouse and said the site has historical features and potential as a tourist attraction. She asked whether the city could assist — including possible fundraising or budget support — to stabilize structures and expand the site for events. Councilmembers and staff responded that portions of the residential development matter are still advancing through planning and that the railroad property discussion could be explored further.
Council did not take formal action on the preservation requests during the meeting; the comments were recorded during the public‑participation segment.
