The Canyon ISD Board of Trustees elected its 2025–27 officers and approved a three‑year contract renewal for Superintendent Dr. Flusche during the June 9 meeting.
Trustees nominated and elected Catherine Wiegand as board president by acclamation. Lori Gilliland was elected vice president, Casey Posey secretary and Mandy Palmer associate secretary. Each office was approved by unanimous voice or show of hands.
On the superintendent’s contract, the board’s contracted compensation committee (Trustees Casey Posey, Lori Gilliland and Catherine Wiegand) recommended renewing Dr. Flusche’s contract for three years but deferred a decision on compensation until the district has clearer information about fiscal impacts from state legislation and the district budget workshop. Trustee Casey Posey moved to renew the contract with compensation to be set later; the motion passed 7–0.
Board members thanked outgoing president Ginny Weingarner for her service and welcomed newly sworn trustee Carrie Trice to her first public meeting.
