Staff said SHAC membership included parents, district staff (including nurses, counselors and PE teachers), student representatives from each high school and community members; the committee elects a parent co‑chair and secretary each year. Meetings covered topics ranging from menu reviews with Chartwells and Cartwheels, the Help Me app hosted by Region 16 that lists local resources and offers telehealth counseling options, clothing support from Colorful Closets, Hope Totes food support, and a presentation from Brady Dental on compromised airway evaluations and their possible impact on student behavior.
Staff reported the SHAC also discussed foster‑care and homeless student services and noted the group’s work informs district programs though there were no formal recommendations or votes for the board this year. The administration said the SHAC application remains on the district website for summer recruitment to fill openings for next year.
