A board member recounted that in a prior term they were removed from committees after calling for an investigation, and said the censure mechanism can be abused.
The member who proposed the redrafted duties said the revision collected committee-selection and agenda-planning responsibilities that historically fell to the chair and was intended to clarify current practice. Other members said they want to consult all board members and possibly limit powers that could be used unilaterally. The committee agreed to send the proposals back for further feedback from the whole board and to discuss the package alongside the two related policies (21.20 and 22.30) at the August meeting.
No changes were adopted; the item will return in August with input from additional members.
