Summary
MVPD reported a May crash initially thought to be a fight; investigators later concluded a motorized bicycle collision killed 55-year-old Michael Boyd. Brandon Kroll was arrested June 12 and booked on first-degree manslaughter and a violation of a protection order.
MVPD said officers responded May 17 to what was initially reported as a fight in the 1900 block of North Leventre Road and found two males with significant injuries. Investigators later collected evidence indicating the incident was instead a motorized-bicycle crash in which one rider, Brandon Kroll, collided with another person. Five days after the incident the department received a missing-person report from an address outside the city; family members identified 55-year-old Michael Boyd as the victim, and MVPD said he later died from his injuries. MVPD reported that on June 12 officers arrested and booked Brandon Kroll on a charge of manslaughter in the first degree and a charge for violation of a protection order. At the end of the update MVPD noted that motorized bicycles are increasingly common and directed listeners to department materials about the rules governing their use.
