Sheldon ISD introduced Marcy Jackson as the new principal of Sheldon Elementary during Thursday’s board meeting. District staff said Jackson served as assistant principal at Sheldon Elementary since 2024 and has 15 years of educational experience, including roles as a veteran elementary teacher and math and science specialist.
Staff noted Jackson has worked in the district at Royalwood Elementary and Sheldon Elementary since 2019, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston–Downtown and a master’s in education from the University of St. Thomas, and is active in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The presenter said Jackson replaces Jana Rolling, who was named the district’s director of teaching and learning last month.
Jackson briefly addressed the board, saying: “I just wanna say thank you for avoiding this opportunity.” (Transcript quote as spoken.) Later in the meeting the board approved personnel recommendations during the personnel consent items; the transcript records that the board approved the personnel recommendations by motion and voice vote.
