Marshall said the proposal would not require a rezone but would likely require a conditional use permit to subdivide units for individual ownership. Commissioners noted the site sits across from the Shiloh parking lot and the Convention Center West lot and suggested members walk the site and return recommendations at a future meeting.
Commissioners also observed that new, modern units could replace aging motel inventory downtown and might raise questions about long-term housing supply versus visitor accommodation. No formal application was submitted at the July 8 meeting; the developer sought early feedback from the regulatory body to avoid later conflicts.
