The Vidor Independent School District Board of Trustees on June 23 approved a program allowing employees to enroll 3‑year‑old children in district pre-K as an employee benefit, with placement subject to campus capacity and class-size limits.
District staff said the benefit would be available to employees' three-year-old children and that the district will "do our best to place the student at the chosen campus, but it may be restricted by class sizes at the specific campus." Staff explained the district will limit pre-K classes to 22 students per class and that if a preferred campus is full the employee may opt to place the child at an alternate campus; transportation will be provided when placement requires assignment away from the preferred campus.
Trustees moved to approve the program; Miss Vincent made the motion and Mr. Camp seconded. The motion carried 7-0. Staff said they are actively promoting enrollment through district and campus communications, including recent Facebook posts and campus notices, and that pre-K enrollment remains fluid as three- and four-year-old students register throughout the summer.
