Developer files rezone; county notes STP funding cycle and local projects under review

County highway staff told the County Highway Committee on June 17 that the Hoover and HH development has submitted a rezone application to the city and that the developer intends to pursue rezone first, then site plan approval. Staff said they attended a development review meeting and expect the city to consider the rezone in August.
The committee also heard an update on the DOT Surface Transportation Program (STP) funding cycle. Staff said the STP urban group — with representatives from the City of Stevens Point, Village of Park Bridge (and other local jurisdictions) — met to rank potential urban applications. Staff said the city and possibly nearby municipalities may submit urban applications for this cycle; the county does not anticipate submitting an urban application but will submit one rural STP application.
Staff also clarified that portions of Hoover Road south of Highway B are shared between village and town jurisdictions and could be a candidate for this funding. No formal committee action was taken on these development or funding items; staff said they will keep the committee updated as applications progress.
