PORTAGE COUNTY — The Portage County Building Committee voted to approve a contract with InterTech, DSI, to perform geotechnical soil borings at the proposed Law Enforcement Center (LEC) site, the committee confirmed at its meeting.
The work approved will include subsurface exploration, groundwater-level reporting, recommendations for foundation options and design parameters, estimated foundation settlement and recommendations for interior floor slabs, according to the discussion recorded at the meeting. The committee discussed the contractor’s ability to meet the project timetable and noted the contractor was the lowest bidder who could deliver within the required schedule.
The committee heard that the bid process produced multiple offers. “We had 6 other bidders,” said Speaker 3, Project manager, summarizing the procurement.
