HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — The Commissioners Court on July 15 approved an out‑of‑state travel request for Carolyn Tyler to attend the National Association of Extension 4‑H and Youth Development Professionals annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tyler told the court she currently serves as Southern Region director for the association and that monthly meetings are typically held by Zoom but the annual in‑person conference requires attendance. She said her department’s existing budget has funds to cover travel.
“Most of our meetings are held via Zoom monthly. But this is the annual meeting, and so I will be required to be in attendance,” Carolyn Tyler said. She added the conferences provide professional development and ideas she brings back to local youth programs.
The motion to approve the travel was made by Commissioner Spivey and seconded by Commissioner Tully; the court approved the request by voice vote.
Court members thanked Tyler for taking a national leadership role on behalf of the county’s 4‑H program and acknowledged the department is currently short‑staffed.
