The superintendent presented an updated bullying-prevention and intervention plan on July 16 that was revised to comply with a state corrective action and the committee approved the updates.
The district convened a task force led by Assistant Superintendent Alice Brown LeGrand to review the bullying plan. The revised plan adds requirements that the district communicate prevention materials in home languages, describe methods for assessing school climate and include alternative interventions for students who struggle with peer interactions. The superintendent said the update was required by the Department of Education and that the plan was submitted to meet the corrective-action timeline.
Committee members approved the updated plan and the superintendent said the task force will be reconvened next year to conduct a complete review of prevention measures and campus practices to increase thoroughness and ensure consistent implementation across schools. Miss Brown LeGrand was identified as available to answer more detailed questions about the plan.
