Hazlet Board approves multiple teacher and staff hires for 2025–26 school year

The Hazlet Township Public School District board approved the superintendent’s consent agenda, which included multiple personnel appointments for the 2025–26 school year.

"So motion to accept superintendent's consent agenda, pages 3 to 18," the presiding officer called; the motion was moved by Steve (board member) and seconded by Jody (board member). The board recorded a roll-call approval.

The consent agenda listed hires and appointments with stated salaries and effective dates. Appointments included Jennifer Higgins as an elementary physical education teacher for Lillian Drive and Sycamore Drive schools (Level BA, Step 1, $55,000, effective Sept. 1, 2025); Brianna Zonin as an elementary teacher at Raritan Valley School (Level BA, Step 1, $55,000, effective Sept. 1, 2025); Christina Lee as an elementary teacher at Beers Street School (MA+15, Step 8, $68,000, effective Sept. 1, 2025); Ursula Juris as a preschool teacher at Sycamore Drive Early Child Learning Center (MA, Step 1, $57,500, effective Sept. 1, 2025); Stephanie Savoia as district speech-language specialist (MA, Step 4, $60,500, effective Sept. 1, 2025); and Carolyn Polo as purchasing/accounts payable secretary (salary $50,000, effective Aug. 1, 2025). Several other names were read as part of personnel listings that were included in the superintendent’s consent agenda.

Board members also moved and approved acceptance of the superintendent’s report by roll call later in the meeting. A small number of agenda items (identified in the meeting as letters Z and G) were tabled for later consideration.

The motions to approve the consent agenda and to accept the superintendent's report passed by roll call vote; members present were recorded as voting in the affirmative.
