Public works staff told the council on July 15 that the city plans to begin its first mill‑and‑overlay project around Aug. 1 and that the work will begin on Industrial Boulevard and the John Birch Park Alley. Jed reported, “we're gonna do the first mill and overlay starting probably August 1,” and said crews will raise manholes and work around valves before paving. He listed the second mill/overlay as Mackenzie Circle, the Dakota Street by the Muddy Duck, and Northgate Circle, noting separate contractors may handle the projects. Jed also said he will take a truck purchase request to the Public Works Commission on July 24 and that staff will seek council approval for the purchase at the Aug. 1 meeting. The July 15 remarks did not include a council vote or a purchase authorization; the item is scheduled for future commission and council consideration. No dollar amounts, contractor names, or specific paving dates beyond the approximate Aug. 1 start were provided at the meeting.
