Board approves library agreement, teacher evaluation change, supply bid and workers’ compensation renewal

Board members voted to approve an agreement between Joliet Township High School District and the Joliet Public Library after a motion and second. Roll call recorded the board members voting in the affirmative: Mr. Coffey, Mrs. Stipp, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Graemeier and Mrs. Guerrero.
The board also approved a teacher performance evaluation agreement change that removes a required student‑growth measure from teacher and principal evaluations. District staff told the board this change stems from a provision that went into effect July 1, 2025, and allows districts to omit student growth measures; a joint committee of administrators and union leaders recommended removing the student‑growth component. Upon approval, district staff said they will implement the revised agreement and communicate the change.
Other approved items included a copy paper bid for the 2025–26 school year and the district’s annual workers’ compensation insurance renewal. Staff reported the workers’ compensation renewal comes with a 5.9 percent premium increase that district staff attributed mainly to increased staffing levels rather than claims; staff said the district’s long‑term experience rate remains favorable and cited a rolling 12‑year savings of about $485,000.
Action item e (numbers 1 through 11 on the agenda) also passed by roll call; the board did not take separate public discussion on those items during the meeting.
Each item passed by roll call with the same affirmative votes from the present board members. The board moved on to first readings of minor policy updates after the approvals.
