Designers and an EDC consultant presented several logo concepts intended to be flexible for small promotional items and large-format use. Presentations showed variations that emphasize a star (representing Texas), an arrow in negative space (symbolizing progress), bar-graph elements and a circular seal option suitable for promotional items. Board members voiced general preference for a mark that includes the star/arrow motif and capital lettering inside a circular form so the EDC seal would align visually with the city logo. Commissioners suggested making the arrow more visible and requested a version that combines the favored lettering with the circular seal. Design staff noted the need for a style guide that explains correct usage and said the guide and descriptive text can be posted on the website as part of a coordinated logo rollout. One commissioner requested the explanatory language be included with the rollout materials so the public can understand the symbol’s meaning. The board agreed to table the item and asked staff to return with revised mock-ups and the style guide at the next meeting. No final selection or vote was taken.
