Select Board approves Miriam Woods management plan and survey contract; camera project tabled to August

The Town of Woodstock Select Board on July 15, 2025 approved the Miriam Woods management plan, authorized administrative staff to sign the signed plan in the town office, and approved a contract for a boundary survey that staff said has already begun work.
The board's members said the surveyor located all but one of the existing property corners, which should speed completion and may reduce cost. A board member moved to approve the survey contract and to authorize the town administrative assistant to sign it in the office; the board voted "all in favor."
The management plan includes a signature page and will be posted electronically on the conservation commission website; hard copies will be produced for the select board files and for public pickup. Staff said the plan is scheduled for revision every five years or less and that 10 full-length copies would be made available at the town office when the final version is ready.
Staff also reported that the Central New Hampshire Climbers Association is working with a conservation-commission subcommittee to prepare an appendix addressing climbing-specific issues; staff said that appendix should be in draft form by the board's August meeting and will be added to the plan as a revision when final.
A camera-monitoring report for Miriam Woods was not available at the July meeting. Staff said the camera checks were scheduled over the previous weekend but no report had been received; the board agreed to table the camera project update until the August meeting.
During discussion staff and board members noted limits on commercial use of the site: staff said organizers and guide services cannot advertise for profit on town lands and that group sizes and other limits apply. Staff cited mountainproject.com as a partner that has assisted with posting closures and installing a kiosk earlier in the year.
The board authorized administrative signature for the plan and survey contract and directed staff to include the climbers' appendix as a draft at the next meeting.
