Pampa opens and closes public hearing on 2024 consumer confidence report; officials say system remains 'superior'

The Pampa City Commission opened a public hearing on the 2024 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for the Pampa Municipal Water System and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Jordan and Baton Units, heard background from public works staff, and closed the hearing after no public comments.
Gary Turley, Pampa’s public works director, described the CCR’s contents — monthly bacteriological testing results, lead and copper results, mineral residuals and other drinking-water information — and said the report has been available online in recent years. “On your water bill you should see something on it says go to www.pampaccr.com. And you can look at the current CCR online,” Turley said. He told commissioners the CCR requirement went into effect in 1998 and noted the city’s testing and reporting are included in the document. Turley said he submitted the city’s CCR; he did not bring the prison system’s copy to the meeting.
When asked, the mayor and staff characterized the city’s system as performing well. Turley responded to a question about system quality, saying, “We’re a superior water system again.”
The commission opened the hearing at 4:02 p.m., received the staff presentation, heard no public comment and closed the hearing at 4:04 p.m. No formal action followed beyond closing the hearing.
The CCR contains sample results and informational material about drinking-water quality; Turley and staff directed citizens to the city website to view the full report or review the copy referenced on utility billing inserts.
