Board shown prototype of five‑year strategic dashboard to track academic goals

Green Bay district leaders on July 14 showed the board a prototype dashboard designed to track progress on the district’s five‑year strategic plan and to provide monthly updates on academic and other goal areas.

David Johns presented the visualization as a “prototype” that will show year‑by‑year benchmarks tied to the district’s five‑year goals, compare district progress to state averages, and layer actual progress against planned trajectories. Johns said the dashboard will display annual data points (year 0 baseline through year 5) and that the board will also see interim indicators — such as quarterly assessment data — that are more timely than once‑a‑year state results.

Board members asked that the visualization include three trend lines — target, plan and actual — so stakeholders can see whether the district is meeting its expected trajectory. Johns said the intent is to show planned progress, actual progress and color‑coded action status tags such as “on track,” “at risk,” and “behind.” James Minnow suggested that “at risk” be used as an early warning and that any item listed as “behind” include a remediation plan when presented to the board.

Johns said the dashboard will be available publicly on district web properties and will include a strategic actions accountability table tied to specific activities and timelines. The district plans to present the next version of the dashboard in two weeks for feedback and to publish a monthly cadence for reporting. The board and staff also discussed including interim screeners such as STAR as real‑time inputs to quarterly reviews and using the dashboard to show credits, ACT results, graduation rates and dual‑credit attainment.
