Council approves second reading of Valley West Park plat and zone-change; council asks developer for site plan before third reading

The City Council approved on second reading an ordinance concerning a vacation, final plat and zone change for the Valley West Park addition subdivision at the July 15 meeting. Councilors said they were willing to move forward but asked the developer or project representative (Pat) to provide a site plan or other materials before the third reading so council can evaluate details that neighbors flagged as concerns.

Councilor Gamroth said he had heard only from one neighbor so far but wanted to see more information: "I would really like to see Pat again before we pass the third reading ... I would really love to get Pat in front of us again and, hope that we can have a site plan or just some other, you know, I had some questions last time, and it sounds like there was just a lot of details that hadn't been worked out yet." The city’s community-development manager said staff would collect available materials for the next packet and attempt to schedule Pat for the third reading.

Why this matters: councilors noted that the third reading is typically the final legislative opportunity before a vacation or plat is finalized; receiving a site plan would help council and neighbors understand impacts on the nearby area before final approval.
