Nashville Public Library leaders say main library restoration on track; parking garage remains closed

Library board members heard a detailed update on restoration work at the Main Library following smoke and soot intrusion from a June 13 parking-garage fire, with restoration contractors and library staff saying most public areas suffered light impact and that final reopening depends on sequencing repairs to a heavily affected conference/auditorium zone.

The update matters because the Main Library is a central, five-level facility of about 300,000 square feet that hosts daily public services and special events; decisions about reopening affect staff schedules, branch traffic and planned public programs.

Terry, Nashville Public Library staff member, told the board that restoration crews completed gross cleaning and have moved into detailed cleaning on multiple levels, and that the library relocated system-wide delivery and some collections to other branches within a week of the incident.
