The Veterans Committee voted to move the town’s Veterans Parade to Sunday, Nov. 2 (the Sunday before Veterans Day) and selected a grand marshal for this year’s event, the committee said.
Committee members said last year’s scheduling change was driven by holiday timing and that moving the parade to Nov. 2 this year should avoid conflicts with holiday travel and improve availability of groups such as the Star Wars performers. The motion to move the parade was made and approved by voice vote.
The committee also nominated and approved Bill to serve as grand marshal for the parade and asked for a headshot and short biography to promote the selection. Members discussed lining up an emcee and noted that parade logistics and publicity should begin soon to secure participants and a grand-marshal presentation.
Staff were directed to follow up with promotional materials and to coordinate the parade start time and permit details; no changes to permits or parade route were approved during the meeting.
