Council adopts two-year collective-bargaining agreement for Shepherdsville Fire Department
Summary
The Shepherdsville City Council approved a tentative collective-bargaining agreement with International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5101 covering full-time fire personnel below the rank of major for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2027; the ordinance will become binding upon passage and publication of the summary.
The Shepherdsville City Council on July 14 adopted Ordinance 025023, approving a tentative collective-bargaining agreement (CBA) between the city and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5101 for full-time fire department personnel below the rank of major. The two-year agreement runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
Council member Faith Portman sponsored the ordinance and Catherine (city staff) read the ordinance summary and sections into the record. The council took a motion to accept the CBA and recorded affirmative roll-call votes from present council members. City staff said the agreement becomes a binding contract upon passage and publication of the summary.
Why this matters: The CBA sets terms of employment for rank-and-file firefighters in the city and will guide wages, benefits and workplace procedures for the contract term. Council members said the agreement followed executive-session negotiations and thanked department heads for their work.
The ordinance includes a severability clause and repeal of conflicting prior ordinances. The council did not include text changes at the meeting; staff said the summary publication will complete the adoption process.
