The council approved a $5,000 facade improvement grant July 16 for the Painted Teacher boutique at 205 West Washington Street. Staff presented the application from property owner Kimberly Colbert and tenant Garrett Sherwin, including color chips, a proposed storefront design and a contractor scope by Raven’s Builders.
Sean, the staff presenter, said both applicants supplied required application materials and that town procedure requires grant funds be reimbursed only after the town inspects the completed work and the applicants submit receipts. He noted the council used an electronic vote process to gather recommendations when a quorum was not available during the prior daytime meeting; all respondents supported the recommendation to forward the grant to council.
Councilors praised the downtown façade improvements and approved the $5,000 grant by voice vote. Staff will inspect the completed work and release reimbursement after verifying receipts and a visual inspection.
