Nash County asked the Nashville Town Council July 16 to approve a first amendment to an interlocal agreement under a Community Development Block Grant‑Coronavirus (CDBG‑CV) award so a handwashing station can be installed at JW Glover Park. Emily Moore, identified as Nash County’s grants and intergovernmental relations director, briefed the council on the request and said the county’s program originally allocated funds for public facilities and that the Wi‑Fi tower at Glover Park has already been installed.
Moore said the grant timeline had been extended and the county has revised the list of handwashing station locations to include Glover Park; the county will include the town in the design process and Wooten Engineers will assist with site design and environmental review. “An interlocal agreement was signed in March 2022 to approve the installation of a wifi tower at JW Glover Park,” Moore said, adding the county is moving forward now that the revision has NC Department of Commerce approval.
Councilors approved the interlocal agreement amendment by voice vote. Moore said Nash County expects to take the amendment before the county board for its signature in early August and noted the full grant must be completed by the end of December as part of the extension agreement.
Council asked about timeline and coordination; Moore said the county will include the town in siting and design decisions and proceed after both parties execute the amended interlocal agreement.
