Organizer asks CRA to consider expanding Old School Square lawn for Delray Concours; requests one-day green market relocation

The organizer said the annual event has raised money for local charities and draws high-value vehicles and attendees to Delray Beach. “We’re not asking for the green market to be canceled. We’re asking for the green market to be relocated for 1 day to wherever you deem necessary,” Max Engage said during public comment.
The request seeks placement on the CRA’s Aug. 28 agenda for a formal vote, Engage said. He told the agency the event draws about 10,000 attendees, fields about 150 cars and has raised roughly $125,000 for Delray charities in prior years; those figures were presented as the organizer’s claims.
Resident George Long offered brief verbal support, saying, “Max is right.” The CRA did not take action or vote on the request during the meeting; staff said they would meet with organizers and can place the item on a future agenda if appropriate.
The organizer also asked that the green market be moved to a nearby tennis-center parking lot if needed and said the event attracts vendors and museum owners from multiple states. The CRA did not set a timeline for staff review during the public-comment period.
For now, the request remains a public-comment submission and a proposal for staff and the board to consider at a future meeting. The CRA’s next steps will be determined as staff reviews logistics, conflicts with scheduled events and any permit or facility-use requirements.
