The Planning Commission on June 18 recommended approval of amendments to North Bend Municipal Code 13.08 (water regulations) and 13.20 (sewer regulations) addressing detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
Planning staff member James Henderson summarized the commission’s recommendation to require a separate water meter and separate water and sewer connection for detached ADUs that may be sold separately from the principal dwelling, saying the changes are intended to align the code with state law allowing detached ADUs to be sold separately.
Henderson told council the planning commission will next meet on August 6 to consider draft amendments to the city's landscape, sign and zoning regulations; the parks commission and economic development commission also have upcoming agenda items related to parks outreach and a bike mobility plan.
The city council did not adopt or reject the planning commission recommendation at the July 15 meeting; the planning commission recommendation is on the record and will follow the city's normal review and adoption timeline for code amendments.
