School board approves multiple hires, resignations and coaching appointments after executive session

Among the formal actions, the board accepted the resignation of Amanda Green, teacher at Woodstock Elementary School, effective May 23, 2025, and the resignation of Bobby Watson, utility worker, effective July 14, 2025. The board approved employment of Erin Madison Simmons as a teacher at West Lawton Elementary School, effective for the 2025–26 school year, and the employment of Deborah George as an EL paraprofessional aide for the 2025–26 school year.
The board also approved athletic appointments for the 2025–26 school year: Chloe Robertson as head middle school girls basketball coach at West Lawton Middle School; Jerica Smith as assistant middle school volleyball coach at West Lawton Middle School; and Cassandra Rutledge as assistant middle school girls basketball coach at West Lawton Middle School. The board approved a list of substitute employees that included Kelsey Dunham, Melissa Dearman, Amy Cook, Sydney Michael Smotherman, Braylee Smitherman, Rita Roos, Matthew Kornicki and Vicky Mitchell.
The votes were taken by voice; the chair called for "All in favor? Aye." No opposing votes were stated on the record for the listed personnel items. The superintendent and board members present handled the recommendations and motions. The personnel items were presented as consent agenda personnel items and then approved as a block, with one consent item (item g) removed earlier for separate discussion.
