Cornwall Central Board elects Christine Diaz president and Christian Bernelli vice president

At its July 14 reorganization meeting the Cornwall Central School District Board of Education elected Christine Diaz president and Christian Bernelli vice president and promptly administered oaths of office.
Christine Diaz was elected president of the Cornwall Central School District Board of Education at the board's reorganization meeting on July 14, 2025; Christian Bernelli was elected vice president. The board took nominations, voted and immediately administered the statutory oaths of office for both officers.
Nominations for president were taken from board members; the board then conducted a hand-count vote. The president vote was recorded as a 5–3 tally in favor of Diaz. The board then administered the oath to Diaz. The vice president election followed; Bernelli won the vice-presidency in a 6–1 recorded vote and was sworn in.
The clerk administered the oath for each newly elected officer and invited them to sign the official records. The clerk also swore in newly elected board members at the start of the meeting.
Procedural matters that followed the organization of officers included appointment of routine officers and designations for the 2025–26 school year (banks, petty cash authorizations and federal-aid participation). Those items were approved on voice votes without recorded roll-call tallies.
The board then turned to committee assignments and other business under the new president and vice president.
