The State Water Board’s Office of Enforcement presented midyear data on July 16 showing roughly 480 active enforcement cases across the office’s state and regional legal units and a range of programmatic trends the office said are shaping enforcement priorities.
Office director Yvonne West summarized how referrals and complaints enter enforcement workflows and noted the office’s growth since 2019. The office now tracks referrals from regions, divisions and the public in a Microsoft‑flow case‑referral system. “We currently, as an office, have approximately 480 active cases across both of our legal units,” West said, adding that about 294 of those are assigned to the regional‑board legal unit and about 185 to the state‑board legal unit.
