Board member Tina used the board‑member reports section to outline several maintenance and access concerns and to ask staff for follow‑up. Tina said Frontier Heights playground equipment remains in poor condition since the city assumed responsibility from an HOA and urged prioritizing replacement and improved lawn conditions for a neighborhood with many children. The parks coordinator said Seattle City Light safety requirements prevent reinstalling a tall netted structure beneath transmission lines; staff said the existing netted structure at Frontier Heights will be removed and the department will look for a different park location for similar equipment. Tina also pressed staff about steps and timber ties at Eagle Ridge that board members and volunteers have repeatedly reported as a safety issue; staff confirmed volunteers have added bark chips but that replacement work remains a priority. On North Cove war memorials, Tina said veterans and community members are disappointed with staining and surface deterioration; staff said the American Legion and the War Memorial Foundation have requested only emblem replacement and that a full wall replacement was not included in the city's six‑year capital plan. Staff added an MOU with the Arts and Parks Foundation covers maintenance of artistic elements. Separately, Tina described difficulty navigating the parks website and making changes to reservations through the CivicRec platform. Staff explained CivicRec was adopted prior to the parks department formation, is not currently mobile friendly, and that the city is planning a full website overhaul to meet ADA compliance within the next year. Staff acknowledged limitations in CivicRec (some event and mill reservations require manual staff interventions, and not every calendar overlap can be automated) and said software replacement is under discussion but likely to require future budget cycles. Why it matters: The items Tina raised affect user safety, veterans' memorial presentation and public access to booking and park information. Staff encouraged board members to submit formal service requests and indicated staff will prioritize safety issues and report back with timelines.
