County staff told the Board of Commissioners on July 15 that the planning commission will hold a public hearing that evening on zoning for an unmapped area on the East End of the county, and that commissioners will advertise two upcoming planning-commission vacancies.
Staff said the hearing "will be well attended" and confirmed that the clerk had received written public comments from Kate Mercash and Jared McLean that were acknowledged during the meeting. The permit center staff said most submitted comments were similar in content.
The county will advertise to fill one seat in District 2 and one seat in District 3; staff said the current appointees occupying those positions have told county staff they do not wish to continue and that the county hopes to have appointments ready at the August meeting.
No formal board action was taken at the July 15 meeting on zoning itself; the matter is scheduled for the planning commission public hearing and later return to the board as needed under the normal land-use process.
