County health director: DOH emergency-preparedness allocation reduced; core positions intact

Community Health Director Tamara told the Community County Board of Commissioners on July 15 that the county should expect a reduced pass-through from the state Department of Health for federal emergency-preparedness dollars.
Tamara said the county was informed that it will initially receive 57% of its allocation and that the state indicated the remaining portion might come later but without guarantee. The director described the flow as federal dollars to the state Department of Health to the county.
Tamara said the county's local emergency response coordinator is funded through the county's foundational public-health services allocation, and that the department did not plan to reduce that staff position. "There will be some probably changes to the scope," she told commissioners, adding the department anticipates scaling back some deliverables tied to the reduced DOH dollars.
Tamara also briefed the board on the county building project's punch-list work, recruitment and retention status and upcoming meetings for the homeless housing council and behavioral-health committees.
No formal board action was requested during the report; staff said they would work through deliverables with the Department of Health and return as needed.
