Columbia County commissioners on July 14 approved the sale of a surplus jet boat and trailer to the city of Anacortes for $15,000.
A county official explained the boat is an older vessel the county previously purchased from Walla Walla when that agency upgraded, and the funding for the purchase originally came from the county’s boating fund. The county asked that funds from the sale be returned to that boating fund. A motion to approve the sale to the city of Anacortes and transfer proceeds back to the boating fund was made and seconded; the board voted and the motion carried.
The record shows staff said they considered auction options (hoping to reach $20,000) but were prepared to accept the Anacortes offer of $15,000 because the recipient agency needed the boat for law enforcement and patrol work and could put the vessel to immediate use.
The board did not attach conditions beyond approving the interlocal sale. Staff will execute the sale and return proceeds to the boating fund as described on the record.
