Barrington leaders press downtown beautification, ask residents to support local businesses

Village President Moran told residents at the July 14 meeting that the village is pursuing a significant investment in downtown beautification and is actively recruiting new businesses and restaurants to Barrington. "We can't do this alone as we need the community to participate and most importantly, support our efforts and the efforts of our retail and restaurant partners in Barrington," Moran said.

"If you have any questions or concerns about anything we're doing, I ask you to refrain from posting your questions on social media, and instead reach out to me, anyone of the trustees, or anyone on the staff to ask your questions and get proper clarification," Moran said. She directed residents to contact information posted on the village website for staff and trustees.
Trustees used the meeting's remarks period to highlight community turnout at recent events and to encourage continued participation. Trustee Lamar said the July 4 parade was well attended despite a rainstorm and called the turnout a sign of community strength: "It was still, you know, lined, from beginning to end." Trustee Montracic thanked public works and public safety staff and said the village's events continue to draw returning volunteers and alumni. Other trustees echoed appreciation for public safety and public works and encouraged residents to attend farmers markets and village events.
Discussion versus action: Moran's remarks were a public update and request for community support; the board did not take formal action or vote on a downtown beautification fund or specific economic development contract at this meeting.
The board adjourned with its next meeting scheduled for Aug. 11, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
