The Rules, Marketing and Development Committee called for legislation to approve Barberton’s FY2025–2029 Consolidated Plan for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and the FY2025 Annual Action Plan. The request, presented by Missy Shipperly and brought before the committee by the chair, included an allocation of $80,000 to support a partnership with Summit County’s minor home repair program.
Council members were told the FY2025 annual action plan covers the period Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026. The $80,000 allocation will allow Summit County to provide an on-site representative at the library to help Barberton residents apply for minor home repair assistance, and residents will also be able to apply online.
Committee members moved the measure forward by voice vote. Missy Shipperly was present to answer questions, and the committee recorded the motion to call for legislation so the plan and budget can be presented for formal adoption and any necessary emergency or single-reading procedures.
No detailed project-by-project funding table was discussed in committee beyond the $80,000 minor home repair allocation; committee members said they had the documents attached and asked staff to continue to provide detail as the legislation moves to the next step.
