City staff and councilors on July 14 discussed efforts to update licensing requirements for mobile and temporary vendors to remove confusion and streamline permitting for farmers markets and mobile sellers.
Public works staff reported they had been updating license requirements and would bring the changes to the public works committee for review. Councilor Hancock and others said organizers of the farmers market had voiced confusion about licensing requirements and welcomed clearer rules. "I do wanna commend our public works professionals for their work on updating the, license requirements for our mobile and temporary vendors. I think that will help eliminate a lot of confusion as we move forward," Councilor Hancock said.
Nut graf: The city aims to produce clearer rules to help organizers and vendors comply with licensing and public-health requirements. Staff said they would coordinate with the public-works committee and the market organizers and return with formal changes for council consideration.
Council members and staff also noted the farmers market had limited vendor booths earlier in the season but that organizers expect more produce vendors as the harvest season continues and that the market plans to keep operating for the next couple months. Councilor Ripley and others encouraged outreach to attract fruit and vegetable vendors.
Ending: Staff will present draft vendor-license amendments to the public-works committee and return recommendations to council for a future vote.
