Westlake board votes to rehire retired band director Hillary Patriak

Another parent, Babagene Palumbo, echoed those remarks and described the district’s instrumental music program as growing rapidly, saying the program may add a second concert band because the high school expects nearly 50 new band members next year. Superintendent Dr. Brian Goggin (identified in the meeting as the district superintendent) placed the resolution on the agenda and recommended the rehire, calling Patriak a vital member of the staff and recounting multiple community endorsements.
Board members commented in support during discussion. Following a motion and second, the board conducted a roll call vote and the chair announced the motion carried.
The board then moved on to the scheduled strategic-plan presentation; no additional conditions or amendments to the rehire resolution were announced during the meeting.
