First Community Credit Union donates $50,000 for Matson Field grandstand renovations

First Community Credit Union pledged $50,000 to support renovation of Matson Field in Moorhead, city officials said at the July 14 council meeting.
City Manager Molly (presenting for Recreation Director Sean Brandenburg) said the Matson Field grandstand project broke ground June 30 and construction began July 1, with renovations expected to be completed for the 2026 baseball season. The city described Matson as an aging facility that hosts youth and amateur baseball and needs upgrades to continue hosting tournaments and events.
Chris Hall, market president for First Community Credit Union, said the credit union opened a Moorhead branch about a year ago and that the $50,000 donation was one of the largest local donations the organization has made in the Fargo'Moorhead area. Hall said his family has personal ties to Matson Field and he was pleased to support improvements.
City staff said the $50,000 will help the Matson Field grandstand project and that naming rights for a Hall of Fame element are part of the contribution. The city welcomed the donation and thanked Chris Hall and other credit-union representatives present.
