Centerville — The City Council approved purchases of trucks, a CAT excavator and a new lawnmower for the parks department on a bundled motion. Dave Walker, Public Works, told the council most 1,500 and 3,500 Silverado crew cabs are immediately available for delivery, while the larger chassis for the CV and MV units have longer lead times and are expected to arrive in October with body/plow work delivered in December–January or in some cases spring of next year. Walker said the bobtail delivery timeline is about eight months. Several vehicles will be sold at auction or traded in; Walker said past auctions have yielded above-50% returns and that one excavator trade-in is expected to bring about $66,000. Councilwoman Hurst confirmed with staff that the purchases are within the budget as presented. The motion to approve the purchases and the parks mower passed on the council floor.
